Amazon recently announced the Kindle Fire, which is a soon-to-be released tablet computer from the maker’s of the Kindle. Of course, the company has been losing ground in the e-reader market thanks to the emergence of devices like the Apple iPad and Samsung Galaxy Tab. Their response appears to be a formula for success with this device though. It will be released on November 15 of this year, so consumers will not have to wait very long to get their hands on one.
The tablet computer features a 7-inch touchscreen with multi-touch and wireless Internet capabilities. Also, it features cloud storage that users can access for free. Movies can be played on the device as can streaming music and videos. The magazine will be able to access various online magazines too. Plus, the device will attain an eight hour battery life, which is favorable to other tablets on the market.
As for web browsing, the device features the Amazon Silk browser, which is supposed to be very fast and user-friendly. Apparently, it uses a “split browser” to speed up the browsing experience. On nice touch is that the device will support Adobe Flash, which means almost all webpages can be displayed without any issues. Access to the Amazon app store is a nice touch too. Of course, that store features thousands and thousands of apps that can be downloaded at the touch of a button.
The device also features eight gigabytes of internal memory. However, the cloud storage means that all books, music, videos, and movies can be stored online. That frees up most of the internal memory for whatever else a person wants to put on the device. No other tablet offers that kind of versatility. With that in mind, Amazon looks like it has a winning device on its hands. Despite its low price, the Fire is perhaps one of the most powerful tablet computers that will be on the market in the near future.
Without a doubt, The Kindle Fire will be a major success when it is released. Perhaps over one million devices will be sold over the first month or two. That number could go even higher with no specific ceiling. Either way, the mix of economy pricing and powerful features will draw in many customers that want a tablet but do not want to pay hundreds for the Apple iPad, Samsung Galaxy Tab, or something else.
